YEREVAN, MARCH 22, ARMENPRESS. "Ravished Armenia» will be screened on April 1 in Glendale’s “Abril” bookstore. Historian Anthony Slide, who has authored more than 70 books, will deliver a special lecture at the screening event. "Armenpress" reports ,citing Massis Post.
The film, which will be screened in Glendale, was shot in 1918 in New York. It represents the memoirs of an eyewitness of the Armenian Genocide, where the survivor Arshaluys (Aurora) Mardiganian, tells the story of exile and its horrors. The "Ravished Armenia" book was already published, when at the "Metro Goldwin Mayer" studio, director Oscar Apfel made the "Auction of Souls" silent film (also known as "Ravished Armenia") in California in 1918, which was the first feature film about the Armenian Genocide. Author and main actor of the film is Arshaluys Aurora Mardiganian herself, who strongly supported the creation of the characters and costumes, as well as the exact reproduction of the scenes.
