There is no danger of “swine influenza” outbreak in Armenia: Armenia Minister of Healthcare

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. 3 cases of “swine influenza” (H1N1) have been registered in Armenia in October-December. One of those infected is a pregnant woman, other two are children. Nonetheless, there is no danger of H1N1 outbreak or epidemic in our country. Every year, mild types of H1N1 virus are registered not only in Armenia, but the whole world. “Armenpress” reports that Republic of Armenia Minister of Healthcare Armen Muradyan said the aforementioned to journalists on December 16.

“In case of H1N1, first virus outbreak is registered, then epidemic. At the moment we have no results related to outbreak or epidemic. The three cases of “swine influenza” comprise the ordinary quantity, they are with mild symptoms, and pose no threat to life,” Minister said.

Muradyan emphasized that Healthcare Ministry carries out vaccinations but that it is impossible to struggle against the strains of all influenza types. Vaccination of the previous year reduced sickness rate by 60%.

H1N1 is classified as a seasonal influenza typical to humans.
