Armenia doesn’t seek to militarily restore sovereignty over territories occupied by Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS. The 29,743 square kilometer territory of the Republic of Armenia is not subject to bargain but on the other hand the Armenian government doesn’t seek to militarily restore its sovereignty over the territories occupied by Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

Pashinyan reacted to accusations from the opposition saying the government is not taking actions to return the over 200 square kilometers of sovereign Armenian territory occupied by Azerbaijan.

Pashinyan stressed that those territories, and the entire 29,743 square kilometer territory, are not subject to bargaining for the government. “On the other hand, today, tomorrow, or the next day we don’t anyhow have a task to militarily restore our sovereignty over those areas. Why? Because we think that the agreements and principles that have been adopted give us the opportunity to resolve it peacefully, through negotiations, including during the delimitation process, exclusively through peaceful path, negotiations,” Pashinyan said.

The PM said Armenia doesn’t have any aggressive goals.
