PM Pashinyan makes new offer to Azerbaijan on peace treaty

YEREVAN, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS. Armenia has offered Azerbaijan to sign a peace treaty with the articles that have already been agreed upon and leave the remaining issues for further discussions, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

He said Armenia made the offer on August 30.

“We have seventeen articles in the latest draft of the peace treaty. Thirteen of them, including the preamble, are fully agreed upon. Another three articles are comprised of more than one sentences. And most of the lexicon of these articles is also agreed upon. We offer the following, to take all agreed upon articles and wordings and sign it as a peace treaty. Why do we find this possible? Because basically all fundamental principles of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan are stipulated there. In any case, we or any one else can’t ever have the kind of peace treaty that would regulate all possible issues,” Pashinyan said.

The Armenian Prime Minister offers Azerbaijan to sign and ratify all agreed upon articles at this moment and continue discussions about the remaining issues.

Pashinyan said he assumes that diplomatic relations will be established after the signing, which will serve as an additional platform for discussing all possible issues.
