EU and Africa adopted a joint plan of action to tackle migration crisis

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. The EU and Africa adopted a joint Plan of action to combat the immigration crisis. “Armenpress” informs about the aforesaid, citing reporter-ua.ru website.

This was announced by the President of the European CouncilDonald Tuskat a press conference in Valletta onthe results of the two-day summit, EU-Africa, reports TASS.

He also announced the establishment of a trust Fund of the EU for Africa in the amount of 1.8 billion Euros.

«We have signed an agreement on establishment of the Fund, the minimum which amounts to 1.8 billion euros,» he said, noting that the amount will gradually increase.

Moreover, Tusk said that, without enhanced control of external borders of the EU Schengen rules will not be respected.

«I have no doubt that without effective control of our external borders of the Schengen rules simply will not survive,» he said.

In turn, Prime Minister of Czech RepublicBohuslav Sobotkasaid that some African States are opposed to the efforts of member States of the European Union on the return home of the refugees who have not received asylum in the EU.

«European States insist that African countries have created conditions for the implementation of effective policy readmission», — said the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, member States of the EU stands ready to provide support, including financial, to African countries aimed at improving the living conditions of refugees who will be returned home. The European Union, according to Sobotka, interested in achieving speedy economic stability of Africa, which is one of the most important conditions for the cessation of mass migration in the EU.

Meanwhile, migration flows in the EU is only growing. According to the latest data of Frontex, from 1 January to 1 November 2015 the EU’s external borders crossed the 1.2 million illegal migrants. This is over four times more than all of last year, when there were about 282 thousand cases of violations of the external borders of the EU.

As reported, in Malta, on November 11 opened a two-day summit, EU — Africa migration. Attended by 50 leaders of European and African countries. The European Commission promises to allocate one billion 800 thousand Euros for projects aimed at addressing underlying issues that caused a sharp increase in the influx of refugees to Europe. The summit participants must take a joint action plan and Declaration on migration issues.
