New details about teen killed on Turkish-Syrian border

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, ARMENPRESS. New details emerge about firing at an Armenian family in the vicinity of Turkish-Syrian border. Armenian residents of Qamishli, the Avetisyans, became targets for snipers in the vicinity of Turkish-Syrian border on October 22. “Armenpress” was informed about this from “Gandzasar” newspaper. The son of the family, Armen Avetisyan, received two gunshot injuries as a result of sniper shooting and died. The source informs that “Gandzasar” employer of Qamishli informed that the 4 members of the family, father, mother, son and daughter, were travelling from Qamishli to Turkish border when the snipers started to shoot in their direction.

After the incident the Avetisyans returned to Qamishli. The funeral of Armen Avetisyan took place this morning at St.Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, Qamishli.

According to UN data, over 220 thousand people died in Syria clashes lasting for nearly 5 years. The number of Armenian victims exceeds 100.
