YEREVAN, AUGUST 19, ARMENPRESS. Significant progress has been made in the last 5 years as a result of tax administration reforms implemented in Armenia. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Information and Public Relations Division of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, the Ambassador of the USA to Armenia, Richard Mills got acquainted to the latest achievements in the Information Technologies Infrastructures Implementation and Development Department accompanied by Deputy Ministers of Finance, Armen Alaverdyan and Vakhtang Mirumyan.
According to the Deputy Minister Vakhtanq Mirumyan, progress has mainly been recorded in increasing transparency of tax administration, introducing electronic control systems, decreasing possible corruption risks, and providing service to taxpayers. As a result of measures undertaken, the number of people using electronic services increased year by year. “If only 7% of the taxpayers submitted calculation-accounts in electronic version in 2011, the number reached 95% in 2015”, emphasized Vakhtang Mirumyan.
The Ambassador of the USA to Armenia, Richard Mills noted that the transparency of tax authorities has improved by the modernization of the electronic system of tax administration. “I am quite impressed by the results of reforms in tax administration. I hope that Armenia will continue attempts to improve business environment, promoting economic growth and attracting foreign investments”.
The US Ambassador toured in the newly built server center of the Ministry built by the assistance of the US Agency for International Development in accordance with technical and safety requirements.
