Azerbaijan holds army drills, risking to escalate Karabakh tension: Bloomberg

YEREVAN, JULY 17, ARMENPRESS: Bloomberg touched upon the army drills in Azerbaijan, stating that they are raising the risk of an escalation of the conflict with Nagorno Karabakh. Armenpress reports that the periodical writes that all medical institutions and personnel received “specific instructions” from the Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry to “take the necessary measures to prepare for possible military action that can take place at any moment”.

During the meeting with the journalists on July 16 the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan advised not to take seriously different announcements and planned or unplanned activities that Azerbaijan performs now.“The situation is seriously under the control of the Armed Forces Command of the Republic of Armenia and the appropriate services that are responsible for the national security. In case of tension we conduct relevant operations. The activities performed in Azerbaijan at present are of no concern. We do our work on daily basis”, - said the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan.

The State Department is aware of the Azeri military measures and is watching the situation closely, spokesman John Kirby said in Washington on Thursday.
