Yerevan, 17 June, Armenpress. YerevanCity Hall wishes the Armenian capital to become the tourism center of the region. Maria Baraghamyan, Head of Tourism Division of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Staff of Yerevan City Hall told journalist about this on June 17. “This assumes very extensive work. We initiated the process with the development of Yerevan brand and it is 1.5 years works are on the way. Serious efforts are currently made on this occasion,” told Maria Baraghamyan, as reports Armenpress.
The Head of Tourism Division of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Staff of Yerevan City Hall considers the work of Yerevan City Tour tourist direction important in the field of tourism development. “Festival tourism is also important. It is the third year Yerevan Summer program is carried out by the initiative of YerevanCity Hall aiming to secure the leisure in Yerevan,” mentioned Maria Baraghamyan.
According to her it is usual to visit this or that city to take part in specific festivals. “Our aim is to organize such festivals, which will bring tourists to Yerevan. Last year we organized bear, watermelon festivals, Bread in the Mountains and other festivals.
By the statistics of January-March, 2015, domestic tourism increased by 9%. “Each tourist, who visits Yerevan, first of all enjoys and recalls the food and then the sightseeings. Yerevan has many different restaurants, where it is easy to find rich Armenian food and tourists like to visit them very much,” added Maria Baraghamyan.
