Armenian authorities pursue the goal of fostering reforms. Armenia’s President

YEREVAN, JUNE 11, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received PACE’s Co-Rapporteurs Axel Fisher and Alan Meale on June 11.

As Armenpress was informed by the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Office of the President, Serzh Sargsyan stressed that such meetings have become common in the frames of fact-gathering mission. Sargsyan said they give a chance to discuss the Armenia-Council of Europe multi-sector cooperation, as well as refer to the issues included in the PACE agenda, including those regarding Armenia.

Sargsyan mentioned that he is familiar with the contents of the PACE Co-Rapporteurs’ report published during their previous visit and welcomed the fact that it recorded Armenia’s commitment to carry out continuous reforms in the areas of human rights, democracy and rule of law.

Yet, Armenia has still a lot to do according to the President and our authorities pursue the goal to foster the reforms with the strong belief that this is the only right way to build a modern lawful state. Armenia's president highly appreciated Armenia’s cooperation with its international partners, including the CoE, stressing the latter’s important contribution to Armenia’s democratization. The president noted the constituency of the reforms carried out in Armenia during the recent years with the view of deepening the principles of democratization, human rights protection and legal state.
