YEREVAN, 9 MAY, ARMENPRESS. The father of Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Galust Sahakyan also participated in the Great Patriotic War and was injured. Sahakyan mentions that as he gets older, he takes more pride in the fact that his father participated in scoring one of the major victories of the 20thcentury.
“My memories and feelings connected to the Great Patriotic War are the most direct because my father participated in the war and was injured. When I was an adult, I would look at him with a feeling of pride…Scoring victories runs in the blood and genes of Armenians. We proved that we can fight and be strong. Without having anything, we managed to score a victory in the Artsakh war,” Sahakyan told journalists during the event dedicated to the 70thanniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War at Victory Park, as “Armenpress” reports. Sahakyan added that Armenians must continue the struggle for universal values and must call on fighting against genocides and be more consistent.
