YEREVAN, 29 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. The busts of famous pro-Armenian foreign figures have been placed at the Alley of Gratitude, which opened today near the entrance to the library of Yerevan State University on the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. There are 12 busts, including the busts of Fridtjof Nansen, Franz Werfel, Johannes Lepsius, Karen Eppe, Henry Morgenthau, James Bryce, Armin Wegner, Anatole France, Jacob Künzler, Raphael Lemkin, Pierre Kiar and Alma Johansson.
During a press conference, YSU Rector Aram Simonyanmentioned that there were many figures whose busts could have been placed, but the selection of the 12 figures was symbolic. “The employees of the rector’s office came up with the idea of placing the busts of these twelve individuals. We presented the idea to the University’s academic council, and it was approved. It was decided to create the alley through donations,” Simonyan mentioned, as “Armenpress” reports.
The YSU Rector said the idea was turned into a reality by sculptor Vladimir Antashyan, who assumed the task of creating the busts.
