Commemorative event called “I Remember and Demand” held in Moscow

YEREVAN, 14 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. The Svetlanovsky Hall of the International Music House of Moscow hosted an event dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide with the title “I Remember and Demand”. As the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, the event was held at the initiative of the Armenian Genocide Centennial All-Russian Committee and the “Armenian-Russian Cooperation” NGO.

The commemorative event began with a prayer in memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide by Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Russia and New Nakhichevan, Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan.

In his opening remarks,Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation Oleg Yesayanmentioned that the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide is the new and more goal-oriented start of the process of recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.

In her speech,Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, co-chair of the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation committee Hermine Naghdalyanpresented irrefutable historical facts about the Armenian Genocide and underscored the importance of consolidation of the international community in the fight against crimes against humanity in our days.

Vice-Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Nikolay Levichev, who was participating in the event, mentioned that such crimes have no expiry date and can’t be erased from the history of mankind.
