Parents of Lionel Messi's girlfriend tied up and robbed in raid at luxury home

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS. The parents of Lionel Messi’s girlfriend were tied up after a gang of armed masked robbers raided their luxury home.

Antonella Roccuzzo’s terrified parents were handcuffed after seven men burst into the gated home in Argentina.

As reports “Armenpress” citing The Mirror, the Police said the raiders overpowered private guards at about 4am local time this morning.

The gang - who broke into three homes in less than an hour - stole cash and valuables from the home, which is located in Santa Fe.

The alarm was eventually raised when an occupant of one of the raided homes managed to break free and escape.

Police believe the robbers - who managed to get through a fence surrounded the complex - had inside information before carrying out the terrifying raid.

The gated community of Funes Hills Miraflores is about 10km wet of Rosario, where Messi was born.

Messi, 27, who plays for Spanish giants Barcelona, is the current captain of Argentina. He is regularly voted the best player in the world.

He has a son called Thiago with Roccuzzo, who he is thought to have been dating since about 2009.

She proudly supported the footballer during last year's World Cup, when he was awarded the Golden Ball for the tournament's best player.

Messi previously told Catalan newspaper El Periodico that his son was the most important thing in his life.

He said: "He has changed my life and he is the most important thing.

"In the past, I would get home and continue as if I was still outside and if things were not going well, I would shut myself away.

"Now I get home, see my son and I get over everything."
