60th EKF Senior Karate Championships: Armenia coach lauds historic success

The two bronze medals won by Armenian athletes at the 60th EKF Senior Karate Championships in Yerevan were the result of many years of work, head coach of the Armenian karate team Seryozha Makaryan has said.

“We really achieved a historic result at these European championships in Yerevan,” he told Armenpress. “Prior to this we never succeeded in earning medals at the senior championships. We were happy to host the 2025 European championships and these medals are the result of many years of huge work.”

Makaryan reminded that the national team held three training camps at the initiative of the Karate Federation of Armenia prior to the championships.

Both medalists, Gor Nersisyan and Yura Zalyan, have great potential, the coach said.

“It would have been wonderful if we had a champion but we are happy with these results too. Now the federation is moving forward with clear steps,” he added.
