YEREVAN, MARCH 13, ARMENPRESS. “Armenpress” News Agency had an interview with the Executive Director of the National Mortgage Company Mher Yedigaryan about perspectives of development of the mortgage market in Armenia, current problems and the necessity of involving long-term and cheap funds.

- Last year the Armenian mortgage market recorded more than 12.6 percent growth reaching over AMD 163 billion, and the company’s share reached 14.5 percent in the total mortgage portfolio exceeding the previous year’s results by 1.3 percents. Can we assume that the Armenian mortgage market has been activated?

- Previous year the number of mortgage loans users increased both in Yerevan and in provinces. We can state that Armenian mortgage market has recorded a steadfast growth. During the year the credit sum has been increased by 13 percent or more than AMD 18 billion. All this allow us to assume that mortgage crediting continuous developing. We expect that we will have greater achievements during the upcoming years. We have great expectations from the pension reforms as well. We expect that as a result of that the percentage rates will decline, which will lead to the activation of market.

- Several years are necessary for the real results of pension reforms, but it seems you are speaking about near future. So, do you think that the reforms will impact the mortgage market sooner?

- It seems to me that the impact of reform will already be felt at the end of the current year. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
