YEREVAN, JANUARY 24, ARMENPRESS: Georgia is an important foreign political partner of the Republic of Armenia and the political dialogue level, established between the two countries, allows discussing any issue despite of its complexity, foreign political vector variety, regional and geopolitical interests and interests comparability degree. Armenpress had an exclusive talk with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Hovhannes Manukyan.

- Mr. Manukyan, how do you value the current level of the Armenian-Georgian relations? What changes in the relations there have been after Bidzina Ivanishvili came to power?

- The Armenian-Georgian relations have passed such a historical way, that their level and quality cannot be dramatically changed due to the change of power in one of the countries. We have reached to this kind of level of the relations due to the everyday hard work. New prospects for the development of the Armenian-Georgian relations opened in January 2013, when the former Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili visited Yerevan and came forward with new interesting initiatives. One of the priorities for the coming years should become the promotion of the economic relations and deepening of the cultural partnership.

- Are you satisfied with the economic ties and the volumes of the trade turnover between the two countries? What new programs and initiatives are there to intensify them?

- Instead of using the word “satisfaction” I would prefer saying that the Armenian-Georgian relations do not disappoint me. Our economic ties strengthen and the trade turnover grows with every year. There is a growth of the food production export from Armenia to Georgia. Today the Armenian produced food can be found not only in the Georgian districts populated mostly with Armenians, but also nearly in all the markets and trade centers of the capital Tbilisi and other large cities of Georgia. Interesting programs can be developed in the coming future in the field of tourism as well. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
