Armenian President concerned about constant Azerbaijani provocations

YEREVAN, JANUARY 21, ARMENPRESS: The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan hosted on January 21 the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort, who has arrived in Armenia with a farewell visit. The Department for Mass Media and Public Relations of the Armenian President’s Office informed Armenpress that Serzh Sargsyan welcomed Philippe Lefort, emphasizing that the considerable position of the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia proves the interest of the European Union towards the region’s security and stability.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to Lefort for his contribution to the deepening of the cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia, as well as the efforts made to foster the regional security and peace. Serzh Sargsyan wished Lefort success in his further work.

At the meeting with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort, Serzh Sargsyan also touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation talks process in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs, expressing his deep concern about the constant provocations and the violations of the ceasefire regime made recently by the Azerbaijani side on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan border, emphasizing that they are serious obstacles for the further progress of the talks process.
