Armenia's President sent telegram of condolences on Armen Mazmanyan's death

YEREVAN, JANUARY 9, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan sent a letter of condolences on the death of Merited Artist of the Republic of Armenia, rector of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema Armen Mazmanyan. The Mass Media and Public Relations Department of the President’s Office informed “Armenpress” that in particular the letter runs as follows:

“Armen Mazmanyan significantly contributed to the development of the Armenian dramatic art with his innovational approaches. Armen Mazmanyan’s management skills found their brilliant expression, when he was at the helm of “Goy” National Experimental Centre for Dramatic Art and the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema.”

Previously “Armenpress” reported that the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan presided over the session of the governmental commission established on the death of the Merited Artist of the Republic of Armenia, rector of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema Armen Mazmanyan. The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan has also participated in the session. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia informed “Armenpress” that the participants of the session honored Armen Mazmanyan’s memory with a minute of silence.

Armen Mazmanyan’s requiem will take place on January 10 at 18.00-20.00 in Yerevan’s St. John Church. The public will bid last farewell to the theater director on January 11 at 12.00-14.00 in the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema. The burial ceremony will take place in the Yerevan City Pantheon.

Armenian director and actor Armen Mazmanyan died on January 8 of the current year.

Earlier, at the course of the December 19 session the Government of the Republic of Armenia had made a decision to allocate money for the compensation of the treatment costs of the rector of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema Armen Mazmanyan. It was stated that the deceased director was suffering from cancer.

Armen Mazmanyan was a theater director and actor from Armenia, who had been rector of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema (YSITC).
