Prime Minister congratulates NSS officers on professional holiday

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan has participated in the solemn session devoted to the Day of National Security Service members.

“Armenpress” was informed from the Department for Mass Media and Public Relations of the Government of the Republic of Armenia that congratulating the employees of the National Security Service on the Professional Day, the Head of the Government of the Republic of Armenia stated: “The employees of the National Security Service have honest, decent reputation, specialists with professional features. You have inherited it from veterans. Today we can record that National Security has been able to preserve and develop its high title. The uniqueness of your labor lies in the fact that it is very often invisible to ordinary citizens, moreover, we learn about your heroic exploits decades later, and sometimes those heroic deeds remain secret. In reality, you have a significant impact on the motion of the history by your activity.

The Prime Minister commemorated several Armenian representatives, whose traditions the employees of the National Security Service continue successfully today. Tigran Sargsyan reacted on the founder and first leader of the foreign intelligence service of the Soviet Union Yakov Davtyan who left an indelible mark on the establishment of the Security members of the Soviet Union, intelligence officer Gevorg Vardanyan and his wife, Gohar, who are known by the direct participation in “Tehran-43” operation. Their role in that operation was essential as they managed to prevent the assassination attempt organized by Hitler towards the leaders of three countries. Only decades later we learnt that Gevorg Vardanyan had received the title of a hero.

A group of representatives of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia on the occasion of the Day of the Security members were awarded with the memorial medals of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia for the significant investments in ensuring national security and positive achievements within operative intelligence activities.
