Guinness Record holder registers considerable results in tourism development

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS: Tatev Renaissance Program and Tatever ropeway is the successful project by the state and private sectors, which attracted 250,000 tourists to the Syunik Province, developed the local infrastructures and provided for the employment of the local population. On November 18 the results of the three-year activity of the program were summed up. The Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia Arman Khachatryan told Armenpress that the results of the program are quite considerable. “The outcome of the program is very positive and very important for our country, as the program was launched on the perfect model of cooperation between the state and the private sector, when RVVZ Foundation invested about $20 million into the construction, exploitation and maintenance of the ropeway”, - said Khachatryan. He added that the state made the same amount of investments.

The Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia noted that it is necessary to create also corresponding infrastructures, tourist, in particular: “On the one hand it will contribute to the tourist service and on the other hand it will create local opportunities, working places and incomes. Now we are getting to the second stage of the implementation of the program”, - said Arman Khachatryan.

The ropeway Wings of Tatev is a 5.7 km (3.5 mi) cableway between Halidzor and the Tatev monastery in Armenia. It is the longest reversible aerial tramway built in one section only.

The ropeway Wings of Tatev is a Guinness Book of Records entry and is located in Syunik Province, in the south of Armenia. The ropeway goes from the village Halidzor to the village Tatev. The ropeway was built particularly for getting to one of the world's unique medieval monuments - Tatev Monastery.
