KAPAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS: According to preliminary data candidate from Republican Party of Armenia Armen Karapetyan has won the National Assembly extra elections in №38 electoral district held on September 29.
President of the electoral committee of №38 electoral district Sergey Sargsyan informed “Armenpress” that from 50 370 voters of the district 25 349 citizens took part in the elections. For the candidate from Republican Party of Armenia Armen Karapetyan voted 20 744 people and for the candidate from “Republican” Party Samvel Hayrapetyan voted 3 555 citizens.
Armen Karapetyan was the adviser of head of Syunik region, former mayor of Kapan.
№38 electoral district in Syunik includes Kapan and Meghri regions. A need for holding extra elections was raised when former deputy from the district Vahe Hakobyan on July 11 was appointed head of Syunik region.
