Armenian minister of justice sees necessity of constitutional reforms

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS: There is a necessity of constitutional reforms in Armenia having the aim to strengthen the rule of law, mechanisms of balances between branches of power, human rights and etc. Such estimation gave minister of justice of the Republic of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan during press conference on September 6 reverberating to the President’s initiative to form a committee for implementing constitutional reforms. “There was really need of reforms and for that aim President Sargsyan formed corresponding commission,” clarified the minister, reports “Armenpress”.
Hrayr Tovasyan had a difficulty to say what kind of reforms are planned highlighting the committee had been formed to decide in what directions reforms will be developed. “If I Knew what kind of reforms are planed we would implement them from this moment but there is a committee which will hold discussions and after that the program of reforms will be introduced to the society,” said Tovmasyan.
In September 4 decree signed by the Armenia’s President about forming Presidential Specialized Commission on Constitutional reforms is mentioned that the decision is conditioned by the necessity to enforce the principle of the rule of law, to improve constitutional mechanisms for ensuring the basic human rights and freedoms, to provide a full balance of power and increased efficiency of public administration. The president of the commission is the president of Constitutional Court of Armenia Gagik Haroutyunyan and Hransuh Hakobyan is the Secretary of the Presidential Specialized Commission on Constitutional reforms.
