Ilham Aliyev met with Turkish Foreign Minister

YEREVAN, JULY 17, ARMENPRESS: The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev hosted the Head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Ahmet Davutoglu, who arrived in Baku on an official visit. As reported by Armenpress, quoting the Azerbaijani Trend Agency, Ahmet Davutoglu conveyed greetings and Ramadan congratulations of the Turkish President Abdullah Gul and the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Azerbaijani President.

They hailed overall development of the Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, and expressed confidence they would further strengthen.The Head of State and the Ambassador explored prospects for expansion of the Azerbaijan-Turkey cooperation in political, economic and energy fields.The Azerbaijani President expressed his gratitude for greetings and congratulations of the Turkish President and PM, and asked the Ambassador to convey his greetings to them too.

The visit of the Head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Ahmet Davutoglu started on July 16 and will end on July 17. During the joint press conference held on July 17 with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov, Ahmet Davutoglu stated that Turkey has always supported and will support Azerbaijan and is ready to contribute in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict issue. The Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov responded to the statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu in Azerbaijan. The Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia stated: “With his statement the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu re-confirmed that in the Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict his state acts in favor of not the fair but the pro-Azerbaijani settlement. Thus, if Turkey is really interested in the soonest settlement of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict, it should make one simple step – not to interfere in the settlement process”.
