"Ararat 73" - 40 years after: commentators recall the past

YEREVAN, MARCH 20, ARMENPRESS: Commenting on "Ararat 73" matches, most favored by the public, demanded much attention and alertness. The commentators sometimes got confused. The comments made by them further on had been cited by the people for a long time. Football commentator is the 12th footballer in the field. They are steadily following the ball, fall down with each and every footballer in the field. The commentators, following the match in their reporter's boots, keep the football fans intrigued. They provide the communication between the audience and football field. "Ararat 73" football commentators Suren Baghdasaryan and Slava Sargsyan shared their impressions with Armenpress.

Suren Baghdasaryan tells

"I am happy I was one of the commentators of "Ararat-73" glorious matches. My first reportage dates back to 1971, September 6, the time newly opened Hrazdan Stadium hosted Tashkent "Pakhtakor". "Ararat" won the match by 3-2 score. "Ararat" became the USSR deputy champion. It was the first time Armenian football team became prize winner in the USSR. Then followed the unforgettable year of 1973. "Ararat" gained the USSR champion title, USSR cup.

Slava Sargsyan tells

"Football commentators were lucky "Ararat 73" matches coincided with their practice. We had a marvelous team, all the people were caught by the games of "Ararat 73", and to confess, football fans watching the matches on TV were just enjoying it and not just listening to commentators. We were becoming more professional in our job in parallel with them."
