YEREVAN, DECEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS. There have already been 5 predictions about the end of the worldduring the last 12 yearsand this very number tells us that they are not serious. In a conversation with “Armenpress” the Leading Scientific Worker of Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, astrologist Areg Mikayelyan stated that the first prediction of this millennium was put forward, when the XX century and second millennium were about to end. Mikayelyan stated: "It was considered that passing from 1999 to 2000 could result in the end of the world. Notwithstanding after this they thought that the millennium will end after 2000 and another prediction has been put forward about passing from 2000 to 2001. I can recall that Vanga's prophesy was about 2004 and Nostradamus has prophesies about the end of the world in 2008. Recently one can hear conversation about the end of the world in 2012 according to the Maya's calendar." In addition he underscored that it’s not Maya's entire calendar that ends, but another period of their calendar.
Notwithstanding, the astrologist mentioned that there is a danger of cosmic disasters. As to the Biblical prophecies Deacon Ghevond Mailyan noted that the Church believes that the second advent of Christ will be at the end of the world, but it’s impossible to say when exactly the end of the world will happen. According to him rumors and predictions about the end of the world are absurdities.
Astronomer and mathematician Elya Hovhannisyan said that all the predictions about the end of the world are entirely false and provocative. Although, she cannot say where they all come from.
