YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia hosted the delegation headed by the President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Jorge Orrico. As reports "Armenpress" Orrico emphasized that Uruguay is the first country, which recognized the Armenian Genocide and ratified a law regarding it. Orrico stated: "There is even a museum of the Armenian Genocide in Uruguay and on April 24 each year it becomes a holy site for the commemoration of the innocent victims."
The President of the Uruguayan Chamber of Representatives noted that they are "a piece of Armenia". He said: "Uruguay has always been the defender of the human rights. We are very anxious about the fact that the Armenian Genocide has not been recognized once for all." Orrico mentioned that their economy grows exceeding the even the average level of the economy of the United States. Among more than 120 partner states Jorge Orrico underlined Armenia as an important partner.
The President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Jorge Orrico arrives in Armenia on November 12 at the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan. The delegation headed by Jorge Orrico visited Tsitsernakaberd to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Uruguay recognized the Armenian Genocide in 1965.
