Armenian Genocide denial is punishable by law in Slovakia: Stefan Harabin

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 11, ARMENPRESS: Stefan Harabin , Slovakia’s Supreme Court Chairman visited Tsitsernakaberd memorial and paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Slovak high ranking official was accompanied by Arman Mkrtumyan , Armenian Chairman of the Court of Cassation.Stefan Harabin and Arman Mkrtumyan laid a wreath at the Genocide victims’ memorial and for a minute of silence honored the memory of innocent victims at the eternal flame.

Slovakia's Supreme Court Chairman also visited Armenian Genocide Museum where he got acquainted with the exhibits of the museum, and the temporary exhibition entitled '' The Book as a Witness of the Genocide'' organized on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Armenian printing and the proclamation of Yerevan as 2012 World Book Capital City by UNESCO.

Stefan Harabin has a great contribution in the recognition of Armenian Genocide. Slovakia recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2004. Armenian Genocide denial criminalization has legal force in that country. The ones who deny any of the Genocides recognized by Slovenia will be subjected to 5 years imprisonment. ''There is a rule of law in Slovakia, the ones who deny the fact of genocide will be strictly punished. I respect human life and I am for the peaceful solution of the issues. It is impossible to forget the people who became victim of these atrocities''.
