“Renaissance” International Music Festival to be held in Gyumri

GYUMRI, FEBRUARY 20, ARMENPRESS. "Renaissance" international music festival will be held again in Gyumri this year for the fourth time. The competition-festival will host the participants April 10-19. The festival is held on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Armenian, Gyumri branch of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatoire and "Pyunik" human resources development fund. The festival aims to promote the spread of classical art and create ties between artists of different nationalities.
"Armenia and World Culture" fourth international conference will be held in the frames of the competition-festival apart from young performers' contest. The first international contest of young composers will also be held this year. Vahagn Hovhannisyan, the festival's international relations coordinator, told Armenpress, the deadline for applications is March 15, yet the organizing committee has already received dozens of applications.
"Georgia, Russia (Moscow, Rostov, Kaluga), Greece, France, Italy, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Iran conservatoire and art school representatives will participate in the festival as during the previous years. The number of applications is increasing day by day and will be clear only after March 15. The festival geography and number of participant are rising annually. The jury is also very representative", V. Hovhannisyan mentioned.
More than 1218 members from 23 countries attended the festival in 2011. The contest has 7 nominations, one round and 4 age groups.
