The daily Haykakan Zhamanak referred to the statement released on Wednesday by the ex-foreign minister of Armenia Vartan Oskanian where he informed about his intention to become member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP). The paper says it was not a surprise and in the coming days the PAP will discuss Oskanian’s application. The newspaper says without doubts Oskanian will become member of the party and will be the number two in the proportional list of the PAP. The paper says the main issue the political observers are concerned with is whether Oskanian is not guided by anyone like for instance by the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. The paper says there is a circulating opinion that it is the result of Kocharyan-Tsarukyan arrangement. The paper says nevertheless certain observers believe there is a mutually beneficial cooperation between the PAP and Oskanian. The paper says PAP gives Oskanian an opportunity to become MP and Oskanian helps PAP in Western integration.
The daily Zhoghovurd writes its well-informed sources claim that Chairman of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union (YKM) Manvel Grigoryan is going to become MP of the Armenian National Assembly. The paper claims he will enter the parliament through the proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia. The paper says head of the RPA faction Galust Sahakyan neither confirmed nor declined the information. Speaking to the daily he said the issue on the proportional list of the RPA has not been discussed yet. The paper says according to its sources, Manvel Grigoryan will be in one of the passable numbers in the “refreshed list” of the RPA. The paper says the decision has already been made and the first “message” will be voiced at the ninth congress of the YKM scheduled for February 18.
The daily Zhoghovurd writes leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukyan has again departed for Moscow. The paper says with surprising coincidence, he departed for Moscow after the regular sitting of the ruling coalition when a decision was made that the parties forming the coalition will run for parliamentary elections separately. The paper says spokesman for Gagik Tsarukyan confirmed the news saying that PAP leader is abroad but did not say where exactly he is. The paper says Galstyan also restrained to reveal the reasons of Tsarukyan’s visit abroad.
