The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes Mayor of Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan will head the RPA’s provincial pre-electoral headquarter. The paper says recently the sitting of the RPA Shirak provincial council took place where Ghukasyan has been elected chairman of the council.
The paper says deputy of Ghukasyan will be vice governor of Shirak Seyran Petrosyan and head of the urban development inspection of the province Zhora Mikayelyan. The paper says the provincial council also discussed a number of other pre-electoral issues, like for instance how many headquarters the party will open, where, who will head them. The paper writes Vardan Ghukasyan has given a special significance to the electoral fight in the 34 precinct where RPA candidate Arman Sahakyan will compete with PAP member Martun Grigoryan.
Irates de Facto newspaper writes that while the two parties of the three of the ruling coalition conduct active discussions over who will head the electoral lists, the top three names of the RPA have already been decided. The newspaper says the list will be headed by the President of the country, followed by the prime minister and National Assembly speaker. The paper says the RPA seems to be guided by classical principle, giving the first three places to the three core figures representing the authorities. The paper says of course there are complaints in connection with it: and what will the head of the electoral headquarter do? The paper says Hovik Abrahamyan has been promised to be included in the top five. The paper says though the list will not be officially published by the RPA congress, but the phase of clarifications have already launched. The paper says the major fight is ahead when the leaders of the so called RPA “wings” will face the issue of registering their people in the list.
The daily Hraparak writes that at the meeting of the leaders of Armenia’s ruling coalition at the presidential residence January 30 the principle of division of the 41 majority constituenciesof Armenia have been decided. The paper says according to the arrangement, the RPA will nominate candidates in 26 constituencies, the PAP in 7 the Rule of Law party in 4. The paper says in these constituenciesthe coalition partners will not nominate candidates against each other. The paper says in the rest four constituenciesRPA and PAP will fight for parliamentary mandates and the winner will be decided in fair competition.
