GYUMRI, DECEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS:
There are more than 110 breakaway buildings in the Armenian province of Shirak, of which 88 buildings with 1920 apartments are in Gyumri. These are mainly buildings that were damaged as a result of the earthquake in 1988.
Head of the Governor's Office Urban Development Department Albert Margaryan said during previous years works were carried out over these buildings with the programs of the World Bank, state budget means, "Lincy" Foundation but after 2004 no means were provided for the restoration works.
"As far as this issue exists in the whole territory of Armenia, in borderline zones a new concept is being worked out on the initiative of the Urban Development Ministry on restoration of buildings. It will be an all-state program and the issue of Shirak's breakaway buildings will also be solved," Margaryan said.
