John Heffern – in Gyumri on a familiarization visit

GYUMRI, NOVEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS:

US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern was today in Gyumri on a familiarization visit. Armenpress' correspondent in Shirak province reports that the ambassador first put a wreath on the memorial of the innocent victims of the earthquake, got acquainted with the cross-stones in the Cross-stones Park, after which participated in the opening ceremony of the new room of the American Corner of Gyumri.

The American Corner has been working in Gyumri since January, 2005, but taking into consideration the large number of the visitors the employees and visitors applied to US Embassy in Armenia with the inquiry of enlarging it, which was not refused.

Sharing his impressions with Armenpress' correspondent, the ambassador noted that he is pleasantly surprised at the English knowledge of the pupils, who visited the American corner. Mrs. Heffern, the spouse of Mr. Heffern, read fairytales for the schoolchildren in the American Corner.
