YEREVAN, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS:

The level of reliability of Armenian food market often becomes problematic during various studies. In particular, when the temperature is this high, citizens become more cautious, market gap becomes more evident. On this topic Armenpress interviewed Melita Hakobyan, chairperson of the National Association of Consumers.

– Mrs. Hakobyan, what are the more vulnerable branches of the Armenian food market? Is this vulnerability connected with weather conditions?

– As such, I can note the fruits and vegetables. Especially now, as they are sold under the conditions of unusually high temperature, often directly under the sun. Our experience showed that some control is just a necessity.

– According to the applications received during the past 6-7 months, in what direction the biggest gap is available? Which branch most frequently becomes a subject of complaints by citizens?

– The branch of production of lemonade and generally soft drinks. During revisions we see a number of gaps and shortcoming in this sphere. I advice to avoid drinks, sold at street in such climate conditions.

– Would you note the spheres that are in a more favorable state?

The meat market, for example, is regulated. Now you will not find any sausages, the label of which does not provide information on the concrete composition of the product and manufacturer. We have also improved the milk and milk product sphere. Today we can be sure that we use high-quality food sold in due conditions. Confectionary products are reliable and of high quality as well.
