Gurgen Khachatryan: at 2011-2012 exams the vector must be directed toward the increase of the level of justice

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7, ARMENPRESS: The graduate and joint exams of the 2011-2012 academic year will launch in June of the running year. Armenpress news agency spoke with the director of Evaluation and Testing Center Gurgen Khachatryan about the organization works and expectations.
Mr. Khachatryan, in your opinion what success was registered during the 2010-2011 graduate and joint exams?
- Different opinions were voiced over the conduction of 2010-2011 graduate and joint exams but in general I consider them succeeded. Of course, there was some noise connected with the “Armenian Language and Literature” subject but the 2010-2011 was the year when we had complete secrecy of the tests. Mainly the opinions that the tests were rather difficult were being voiced but the assessments of the center also showed the quality of knowledge of the pupils. And in vain the parents of the pupils are getting surprised why their children are getting such marks: is not the entrance exam continuation of logical checking?
- Have the task groups to form the subject tests for the exams of 2011-2012 academic year been selected?
- This year a number of changes were made in the task groups. Representatives of schools have also been included so that the tests are formed in accordance with the text-books and acting curriculums. We have always been forming task groups quite early to have an opportunity to follow the quality of formation of tests.
- This year the senior school will not give graduate. Who will participate in the entrance exams in this case?
- This year the graduates of the previous years and the demobilized will take the exams as well as the applicants of our inner diaspora over 2000 persons. The demobilized, more probably, have forgotten in a way their knowledge so the tests will be formed in a way that the 8-point barrier – the minimum passing point - will be easy to overcome. And the other part with its difficulty will correspond to the ones of the previous years.
- Isn’t it possible that the excellent-studying schoolchildren participate in the exams?
- No, it is excluded. Every time we are being asked and every time we say that it is excluded as they are not graduates. Besides they still have to learn the materials of 12th grade.
- Mr. Khachatryan what expectations do you have from this year’s exams?
- Speaking in a language of mathematics, I would like the vector be directed toward the increase of the level of justice and this year in this respect must be a breakthrough, and we will contribute all our forces to do it.
