YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS: People working with light sources often face vision problems. To clear up how to preserve vision from light stress “Armenpress” interviewed doctor-consultant of “Tonus-Les” company Gevorg Petevotyan.

-Who are considered to be members of the risk group from the viewpoint of obtaining visual problems?

-People who work long with light sources – with computers or soldering devices, and who stay directly under summer sunrays for a long time, are considered to be a risk group of light stress. It is very harmful for eyes to look directly at the sun; some people, especially children, have such a habit: one should remember that this is a big stress for eyes and may seriously harm the vision. People who like to watch TV for a long time, to uninterruptedly play computer games and navigate in the network are also in this risk group.

-What should be done in order light stress does not turn into a visual disturbance?

-As a doctor, first I advise to follow the hygienic rules of vision while working. It is good to rest eyes 15-20 minutes after working for 45 minutes. In this period one must go away from the screen, look from the window to any remote subject in order the eye muscles get relaxed. Eye exercises are advised as well.

-Is there nutrition improving vision?

-There are foods, which contain taurine amino acid necessary for retina. The 30% of taurine is naturally synthesized in the organism. The rest 70 % must be achieved either through food or tablets. It is mainly contained in sea food, in pork, in the meat of hen and turkey.

-What are the symptoms of taurine hunger?

-The main symptoms are seeing of black points in front of eyes, not-pure expression, tired eyes and headache, which are the result of over-tension of muscles. In case of having such symptoms a person must follow the hygienic rules of vision, use the mentioned food or buy medicine containing taurine. It is desirable that the people of this risk group follow these instructions not after the symptoms of taurine hunger for purpose of treatment, but for prevention.
