YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS: The adoption of the bill on Azerbaijani resolution will not have any essential influence on the process of negotiation over the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue, according to Sergey Minasyan, political scientist, vice president of the Caucasus Institute. He said today in an interview to Armenpress that the adoption of the bill is formal.
‘It will have the same influence as that of 2008; two weeks later not many people will remember about it,’ Sergey Minasyan said. He added that the resolution of 2008 did not have any positive influence on Azerbaijan, as all the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group were against it; it is possible that the co-chairs will be against this one as well.
‘It is not driven by the interests of Armenia to remove the NK issue from the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, as this format goes on preserving the status quo,’ the political scientist said. He added that Azerbaijan’s desire to involve new negotiating sides is not enough for making it a reality. ‘The idea of Islamic consensus exists and the bill on Azerbaijani resolution may be adopted; however the arguments of Azerbaijan are arguments of a defeated party and the resolution will not bring to any serious changes,’ Sergey Minasyan said.
