Armenia’s Elina Avanesyan starts SP Open campaign with victory over Argentina’s Julia Riera

Armenian tennis player Elina Avanesyan has opened her campaign at the SP Open WTA 250 tournament in São Paulo, Brazil, with a victory.

Avanesyan faced Argentina’s Julia Riera in the opening round and won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, in a match that lasted about 1.5 hours.

Avanesyan is currently ranked 155th in the WTA rankings.
