YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS: Chief editor of the “Azg” daily Hakob Avetikyan said today at the meeting with reporters that Turkey’s position and the fact of not ratifying the protocols increased tension in the region, burdened and complicated the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He said that in the current round of the established relations Turkey may probably ratify the protocols with restrictions and present the Armenian side as a “criminal party”.
“The basis of the abovementioned scenario are a number of Turkish newspapers – “Milliyet”, “Zaman”, “Vatan”, which call on the Turkish authorities to ratify the protocols with restrictions and prevent the March 4 discussion of the bill on the Armenian Genocide in Washington. It will “take the Armenian side to the beginning”, creating new difficulties,” Avetikyan said.
“In case of ratification of the documents with restrictions, for consolidation of forces and getting out of the created situation, the issue of the Armenian side will be to show in a convincing way that Turkey has nothing to do with the stability of the region,” Avetikyan said.
According to him, Armenia will have a great diplomatic work and fight. “Our prior issue and obligatory pre-condition is today to consolidate, unite Armenia-Diaspora forces,” Avetikyan said.
He said after Turkey ratifies the protocols Armenia must make its relations closer with Iran and neighboring countries displaying the position that Turkey has nothing to do in the region and may play the role of one creating impediments.
