YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 11, ARMENPRESS:The web-site of Azatutyun radio station informs that, according to the results of independent research made by the request of Armenian-Turkish reconciliation committee, the massacre of Armenians in 1915 in Ottoman Turkey is considered as a genocide. The research was made by the Transitional period Justice International Center acting in New York, seriously hitting the Turkish policy of denying of the genocide. According to the statement of the Center, the massacre and deportation of Armenians in 1915 meet the four main definitions of UN convention on prevention of genocide. In 2001 the Turkish members of the reconciliation committee applied to the Center asking not to make such a research and after that Armenian members quitted participation in the committee’s activity. In July of the year of 2002 the committee again asked for the research . Both sides of the committee “applied for fair and objective research”. On last Monday the sides announced that the committee will soon restart its activity.
