Nikol Pashinyan attends Divine Liturgy at Surp Gevorg Church in Yerevan

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan attended a Divine Liturgy at Surp Gevorg Church in Yerevan on August 2.

The information was made public through a video posted on Pashinyan’s Facebook page.

“I attended the Holy and Immortal Divine Liturgy at Surp Gevorg Church in Noragavit,” the prime minister wrote alongside the video.

The inaugural session of the parliament formed following the June 7 parliamentary elections opened on August 2.

Under the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, the government submitted its resignation on the day of the first sitting of the newly elected parliament.

On August 2, Nikol Pashinyan signed the government’s resignation letter addressed to the President of the Republic, which was subsequently sent to the Office of the President. President Vahagn Khachaturyan accepted the government’s resignation.

The president subsequently appointed Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, in accordance with Article 149, Part 1 of the Constitution, following his nomination by the political force holding the parliamentary majority.
