6.5-magnitude earthquake strikes off Mexico’s coast

A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the coast of Mexico’s Chiapas state, according to the country’s National Seismological Service.

The agency said the quake occurred at 9:20 a.m. local time (1920 Yerevan time), 126 kilometres southwest of the city of Ciudad Hidalgo.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, the agency said. Earlier, the National Seismological Service also reported a magnitude 6.8 earthquake off the coast of Guatemala.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
