Anti-Corruption Committee chief meets Francophonie Electoral Mission

Anti-Corruption Committee Chairman Arthur Nahapetyan held a meeting with the Francophonie Electoral Mission deployed by the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in Armenia for the June 7 elections. The delegation is led by Philippe Courard.

According to a readout issued by the Anti-Corruption Committee, the parties discussed the powers of the Anti-Corruption Committee in relation to investigating election-related crimes connected to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, as well as the Committee’s role in ensuring the transparency and legality of electoral processes.

“Referring to the Committee's consistent fight against electoral crimes and the numerous recent uncovered cases, the Committee Chairman stated that these mainly concern instances of vote buying, receiving bribes, and violations of the prohibition on charitable activities,” the law enforcement agency said in the readout.

Nahapetyan presented statistical data, noting that since February 7, 2026, a total of 89 criminal proceedings have been initiated in cases of electoral crimes, and 128 individuals have been detained. Criminal prosecution has been initiated against 142 individuals. For 65 of them, pre-trial detention or house arrest has been chosen as a preventive measure, and the preliminary investigation has already been completed for 34 of the accused.

At the same time, Nahapetyan said that beyond uncovering electoral crimes, it is even more important for the Anti-Corruption Committee to prevent and deter such cases, and that the law enforcement agency is also taking active steps in that direction. The parties agreed to continue their cooperation.
