Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during a visit to Aragatsotn Province with senior Civil Contract party members and officials on Saturday, met with the father of a recently repatriated POW from Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan met with Tigran Davtyan, the father of Davit Davtyan, who was among the four Armenian POWs released by Azerbaijan and returned to Armenia in January this year after facing a lenghty sham trial in Baku after the war.
Davit Davtyan was in Azerbaijani captivity for over five years.
A video posted online by Pashinyan’s Chief of Staff Arayik Harutyunyan shows the prime minister embracing the man.
Pashinyan said he had met the former POW’s father many times and praised his “patience.”
“We have met many times, and this man asked only one or two questions just once. I’ll say honestly—if I were in his place, I wouldn’t have been able to be that patient. I want to express my gratitude. No one believed it, but the two of us believed and knew,” the prime minister said.
Davit Davtyan’s father also thanked the prime minister and emphasized:
“You promised me that you would bring my son back, and you did.”
