Armenia is expected to see significant foreign financial inflows in the near future, resulting in the formation of a new investment ecosystem, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with Public Television of Armenia.

Pashinyan made the remarks in response to opposition criticism regarding the volume of investments from the United States.

The Prime Minister noted that the government has long faced criticism over the lack of foreign direct investment, while it is now actively working to attract  such investmnets.

“In the near future, Armenia will, in fact, see large inflows of money. Any country wants capital to come from abroad and to double, triple, or quadruple within the economy,” Pashinyan said. According to him, in certain sectors, one unit of investment generates an additional two, three, or even four units of investment, resulting in the creation of a new investment ecosystem.

The Prime Minister stressed that infrastructure projects are not limited to railway construction alone.

“The railway is not just a railway line. It also includes service infrastructure, related services, cutting-edge equipment, and the servicing of passenger and cargo flows,” he said.

Pashinyan also referred to the construction of new power lines, pipelines, and cables, linking these projects to a new supercomputer center under construction in Hrazdan, which is expected to provide regional and international services in the field of artificial intelligence.

According to the Prime Minister, all these areas are interconnected with the growth of tourist flows and the expansion of services.

“Here, investment generates investment. One job created in the technological sector creates three, four, and sometimes even five jobs in other sectors. This is exactly the effect we are dealing with,” Pashinyan concluded.
