Armenia is concerned about the rhetoric frequently voiced publicly by Russia, Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan, a senior member of the ruling Civil Contract Party, told Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

“We are concerned about the rhetoric that is frequently voiced publicly. This worries not only us but also Armenian society,” the Speaker said.

He noted that politicians can be replaced by other politicians, but certain statements coming from Moscow are received very negatively by Armenian society. “They react this way because Moscow is important. There is a perception that Moscow has been and remains an ally. That is why it is very painful to hear such statements,” Simonyan said.

He added that he also discussed these issues with Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin.
