PM’s Chief of Staff meets UN Electoral Needs Assessment Mission

The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Arayik Harutyunyan, met with the UN Electoral Needs Assessment Mission, the Prime Minister’s Office of Armenia said in a press release.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the political, legal, institutional, technical, human rights, and security environment of electoral processes in Republic of Armenia, as well as current challenges related to the organization and implementation of elections and the main directions of ongoing reforms.

They also exchanged views on strengthening public trust in electoral processes, improving electoral systems, and possible areas of cooperation with international partners.

It was noted that the results of the electoral needs assessment mission will serve as a basis for determining the formats and scope of further UN support for electoral processes in Armenia.

Harutyunyan reaffirmed the Armenian government’s readiness to continue cooperation with relevant United Nations structures to ensure the transparency, inclusiveness, and credibility of electoral processes.
