In the context of hybrid attacks, disinformation manipulations have become a part of everyday life in Armenia, as they have in other countries, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at the PACE plenary session.
He was asked by a PACE delegate representing the Socialist group about how the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) can support Armenia to protect itself from hybrid attacks in electoral processes.
According to the Minister, hybrid attacks are expected to intensify continuously as Armenia approaches the parliamentary elections scheduled for early June.
“But we have developed immunity and the capacity to defend ourselves in an environment that, over the past 4–5 years, has been subject to hybrid threats. False information and manipulations have become a part of our everyday lives, as they have in other countries. This esteemed body, by standing with Armenia and its democracy and demonstrating its readiness to provide support, can come to our country and see the situation firsthand. We are confident that together we will overcome any potential hybrid attacks,” said Armenia’s Foreign Minister.
