Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will attend the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity ceremony, he said during a cabinet question-and-answer session.
Pashinyan said receiving the award is a great honor and described it as the result of collective efforts, including the work of the government, the parliamentary majority, and the support of Armenia’s citizens. He noted that he learned about the decision through a phone call and accepted the award with gratitude.
“This is a great honor for me. The outcome reflected in this decision is the result of teamwork: the government, the parliamentary majority, and, most importantly, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. Without their support and trust, this would not have been possible,” the prime minister said.
Pashinyan noted that the 2026 award will be presented to three laureates: himself, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and an activist working in the field of women’s education in Afghanistan. He confirmed plans to participate in the award ceremony.
According to the Prize Committee, the award recognizes the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan as a process aimed at peace, dialogue, normalization of relations, and conflict resolution.
Mohamed Abdelsalam, a member of the judging committee and Secretary-General of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, praised Prime Minister Pashinyan’s consistent and principled efforts to establish and strengthen peace.
