Armenia's Defense Minister Suren Papikyan congratulated conscripts departing for compulsory military service, wishing them peace and good service.
In a video message on Facebook, Papikyan also congratulated the conscripts on beginning service under the new 18-month term.
The minister recalled that in December last year the National Assembly adopted a law reducing the duration of compulsory military service by six months. Under the new legislation, conscripts called up from today will serve 18 months.
The minister also extended his congratulations to the conscripts' parents, wishing them peace and safe service.
